Oh and of course… little old me as well!
Apple Cider Vinegar has been part of the morning routine in my household for well over a year now,. I often tell clients to start staying bottoms up early in the day, but I guess, the taste can be pretty off-putting.

Hey, I never said Apple Cider Vinegar was going to be Yummy or easy!!!

ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) is great for your digestive system, and works as a natural detoxifier and appetite suppressant.

It also has some mystical and amazing weight loss super powers when used correctly and in the right doses.
Damn, you don’t want to be necking back half a pint of this stuff!
So what is it?

As the name may suggest, ACV is made from apples, they are crushed and thier fabulous juices are squeezed from them. They are then fermented turning the sugars into alcohols…. Hmmm. that be Cider then! The alcohol is then further fermented into vinegar! The whole process takes about 3 to 4 weeks before the ACV is ready to be consumed.

What Are The Health Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar?

This blog is predominant based on using ACV for weight loss, but there is way more to this little gem than just that. Here are just a few more areas that may benefit from taking ACV as part of your daily routine:
It has been know to help:

• Diabetes
• Headaches

• Nausea
• Hair Loss
• Skin Care – can help clear conditions and blemishes
• Healthy Cooking
• Pet Care
• Household Cleaning – it is amazing at cleaning glass!!!
• May help improve bowel irregularity and helps to remove toxins from the body at a faster rate.
• Helps with weight loss by breaking down fats so that your body can use them rather than store them.
• Studies have found that ACV may even be able to kill cancer cells or slow their growth.

How Are There So Many Benefits??

For most people, taking ACV as part of their daily routine started as a weight loss or weight management thing, but the other benefits started to become more apparent as well, so questions started to get asked like “What’s In it?”, “How can it help with so much?” and “What makes it so healthy?”

So ACV is high in Potassium, which is lacking in many adults diets at this time. Potassium is key for growth, building muscle, nerve impulses, heart activity and more. Potassium is also great for preventing brittle teeth, hair loss and runny noses.

ACV’s alkaline property comes from its rich Ash content. Ash has been in the headlines a lot recently for its healthy benefits. It aids your bodies in maintaining a goof Ph level for a healthy alkaline state. This is really important if you drink a lot of wine or coffee throughout the week.

ACV has anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungul properties, making it a super addition to your routines. This is thanks to it being rich in Malic Acid.

ACV is rich in Acetic Acid, this is believed to slow digestion of starch, which can help to lower the rise of glucose that commonly occurs after meals.

  1. AVC Suppresses Your Appetite

Studies have shown that those who consumed ACV with a meal reported feeling twice as full than those without the elixir.
Many people have reported a great effect when taking ACV at around 2-3pm when the afternoon slump kicks in. Helping them to stave off cravings and snacking.

  1. Helps to Control Blood Sugar and Insulin Levels

According the same studies that established feeling fuller for longer, ACV prevents blood sugar spikes and crashes that are experienced after a filling meal. Tests were conclusive that the blood sugar was lower in subjects who consumer SCV with their meal.

This means that you can benefit from a sustained energy after you eat and keep your blood sugars in check, preventing binge eating and snacking. It is also going to prevent large insulin spikes after your meals that cause fat storage.

  1. Prevents/Reduces Fat Accumulation

ACV has been shown to stimulate your metabolism in a way that will help you burn off fat faster (always good news). Scientists have demonstrated that the consumption of Acetic Acid (you know that stuff I mentioned above), blocks fat Accumulations.

So this really is some epic good news… not only does it help you burn fat faster, but helps you block it from storing up as well! In my eyes, that’s a Win/Win!

  1. Helps to Detoxify the Body

Our body harbours a lot of toxins, through what we eat, food packaging, pollution, chemical and beyond. It goes way further than just whats in our diets. But more good news, ACV helps to flush and remove many of these toxins from the body using a range of nutrients.
In essence, ACV is like that clingy overbearing person you cant shake…. Just in this case, you don’t want to shake them!
It makes its way around the body latching on to the toxins and then helps to almost trick them into travelling down through your digestive tract……

  1. Gives the Digestive System a Helping Hand

ACV is a true super hero for your digestive system. It’s rich Acetic Acid, Ash & Malic Acid content help you to better absorb and use the nutrients that you eat while getting rid of the remains. It’s true that we do not absorb EVERYTHING we eat, so therefore do not get the full healthy benefit, but ACV will actually bolster this and help you get more of what you need.

When should You Drink Your Apple Cider Vinegar?

Having explained what it is and what it can do for you, I’m pretty confident that you have another window open on your browser checking out where you can order some from right now to get started. I do not blame YOU!
I would be too (but I already have FIVE litres of it sat in my kitchen).

There is three ways that you can have your ACV on a daily basis. All of which will offer the benefits.

  • Take a shot First Thing in the Morning

I literally do mean take a shot! Grit your teeth & pinch your nose… Bottoms up! I also add mine to my breakfast smoothies or throw it into a glass of water.

A3DABH Clock

  • Drink a glass Half an Hour before your meals.

Again, I would recommend that you either take it in a shot or mixed in with some water. This will help your digestion!

  • Drink a glass when you feel like breaking your diet.

If you feel as though you are about to break out of your diet, screaming and shouting and binge on the first thing you see, then now may also be a good time to knock back some ACV. Mix this shot with a glass of water to really fight off any cravings.

How often should I drink it?

Dont go crazy if you are just starting out on your ACV adventure. Start slow!
Try one glass on your first day and see how you feel. The next day, you can maybe consider adding in a second glass. But never go about three glasses a day!

That’s just over the top & will more than likely hinder your progress, and the effectiveness of the drink.

How much should I have?

Start small! Too much too soon, and you are likely going to put yourself right off the whole journey.

I started with a tablespoon on my first day in a cup of water. Just a normal, regular cup. Nothing fancy.

You can work yourself up to 2 tablespoons per cup overtime, but don’t go above this. Take your time with it and see where your tastebuds lie with things. Don’t make yourself gag from overkilling it on your amount.

This is a real each to their own kind of measure. My hubby can literally neck back a load of it neat, where as I am a bit more gentle on myself.

What brand should I buy?

There is no right or wrong and it really depends on how much you want to buy and what your budget is.

Braggs Raw & Organic is a very popular brand and can be ordered via Amazon HERE
Personally, I purchase the Biona Organic Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar HERE

SuperCharge Your ACV?

There are ways to Boost your already super Boosted Super Power ACV for weight loss, and here’s how…

When I was poorly with a bit of cold & sniffle, I turned to green tea and honey as my throat relieving “go to” friend. It dawned on me that I could combine both my fat burning Green tea and my fat burning ACV to supercharge my… erm… fat burning.
So, I allowed my tea to cool a little before I added a tablespoon of ACV. Just to make sure that the boiling water didn’t kill off any of the goodness of the vinegar. It didn’t taste too bad to be honest!

Shortly after, I was reading an article on line about the supercharged effects of Green tea, honey & yep, you guessed it ACV!

You can also do a similar thing with Lemon Water, same as above, just lemon water instead of Green Tea.

So there you go, there are options!
